Swoboda Charters offers 7-to-10-day big-game hunting trips in some of Alaska's most secluded grounds. As a big-game transporter, Scott and the crew of the Allen Ray function as a remote floating lodge with 9 beds across 4 bunk rooms, 2 full bathrooms, and a full galley. (All hunts are non-guided.)
Sitka black-tail deer hunts start October 1st on Kodiak Island. Hunters work the mountainous terrain, hiking into bowls and glassing for deer over the week-long hunt. Non-resident hunters are allowed 1 deer per person (Alaska residents up to 3), and hunters may also target local waterfowl and fish when a break from the mountain is needed.

Every trip begins with traveling to the hunting grounds while hunters settle into their bunk rooms. Each day starts with a hot breakfast as hunters form a plan. Field pack lunches are prepared, then hunters board the skiff and are shuttled to their hunting location of choice.
Once done, hunters radio back to the Allen Ray for pickup. Back aboard, dinner is served and the rest of the night is spent butchering deer, watching movies, and reminiscing on the day's activities.
We fit up to 6 hunters per trip. A 3.5% card processing fee applies on all card sales. A 15% gratuity is collected before the trip.
